The Nursery Video and the tutu

Here is the video. It's not the best because it is the first video I filmed. Hopefully I'll get better with time =)

Emily and I got crafty and made the baby her first Tutu. Every girl needs a tutu right?? I can't wait to dress her up and take pictures.

The Nursery

We finally finished the nursery!! I think that it turned out really cute. Now we just need her to be born so that she can enjoy it and use it. Patrick made her name, didn't he do a great job?! I can't believe how long it is, but oh well some day she will learn to spell it. Our friend Jeana painted to art work that is hanging by the window. She did such an awesome job, I just love it!! My mom is making a valance and a foot pad for the glider. Please excuse the clutter in the corner, we still have a little bit of organizing to do. I took a video but am having technical difficulties getting off of my new flip video camera. I will post it as soon as Patrick figures out how to save it to the computer. Until then here are some pictures that I took.

Life in the third trimester

I am now in the third and final trimester. And boy has life been crazy!! Patrick has been working on remodeling our bedroom since the middle of October. Due to all the health issues my dad had this project has taken twice as long as it should have. At my 35 week appointment my doctor said that I was already 50% effaced. She said she wasn't sure if I would make it to my due date, it is too early to predict but she wouldn't be surprised if this baby came early. This sent me into total panic mode. The nursery wasn't ready, I couldn't sleep in my bedroom because it was a danger zone and smelled like paint, Patrick still hadn't hung the crown molding in the nursery, we finally had furniture in the nursery but we had no time to wash and organize anything. As you can tell I am rambling but that is exactly how I have felt since week 34.

The last two weeks have been busy but we have accomplished a lot. Our bedroom is basically complete, we only need window sills which will be installed very soon. The nursery is about 95% ready. I had some very dedicated friends come and help me get things organized in the nursery. They were life savers because due to my pregnancy brain it looked like a bomb had gone off in the room. I finally feel like if this baby was born today then we would actually be ready. Now that we are prepared I am sure she will be late =)

My energy level is slowly declining. Between finishing Christmas shopping and shopping for the baby I am pooped. I try to relax as much as possible and the cats usually help me do this. Pepe still wants to cuddle with me but he can't seem to find a comfortable place to lay. He has resorted to stretching across my chest because he doesn't like it when the baby kicks him. At night he sleeps on top of my body pillow with his face pressed up against mine or he sleeps on Patrick's face (which is my preference). Puma usually just lays next to me or by my feet, I think he is the smart one.

I just had my 36 week appointment and she said I was dilated about 0.5 cm and my effacement was the same. Any day this precious miracle will be here. Now we are just playing the waiting game and taking bets on if she will come early or not. As for me I have one more week to relax and then I get to attempt to do my job until she arrives. Patrick is surviving my very pregnant self and has been a really good supportive husband. He works hard everyday and understands when I just need to rest.

Showers are fun

We have had two more showers since my last update. My wonderful special ed team at MST threw us a really nice shower. Patrick attended and we had a really good time and got a lot of needed items and a lot of very cute girlie items. Also Amy, Tiffany, Emily and Linda threw us a couples shower. Patrick seemed to think no one would attend but when we showed up we were proved wrong. We had tons of friends and family there to help us celebrate! My mom even made it in town for this shower because my dad was still in rehab which meant she could get away for the weekend. We had a wonderful weekend with her and the shower wouldn't have been the same without her. We missed my dad but gave him the full update over the phone. We got so many needed baby items I wasn't sure they would all fit in the truck, some how Patrick managed to get everything to fit.

Nov. 6 shower

On November 6th three of my best friends threw me a wonderful shower. Jaimie got sick with a stomach bug and couldn't make it to the shower. It wasn't the same without her but her wonderful family still let us use their beautiful house for the shower. Thank you Guck family!! We got so many cute little baby girl clothes, blankets, books, and many other wonderful baby things! I had several friends come in town that I haven't seen in forever and we had a wonderful weekend catching up! Unfortunately my mom couldn't make it to the shower because my dad was still in the hospital after his bypass surgery. I know she was sad she missed it but he needed her more that day!

31 week sonogram

We had another sonogram to see if my placenta had moved up because it was low lying. My doctor was confident that it would move up but she wanted to check to make sure it did. We would never pass up on an opportunity to see our baby!! She has gotten so big that you could only see a few body parts at time on the screen. She moved a lot during the sonogram and even yawned!! It was precious!! She is weighing about 3.14 pounds which the docotor said was 50th percentile. She said she is very average and if she continues growing at the same rate she should weigh around 7.8 pounds at birth. We can't wait to see if she is right!

27 weeks

Here is my belly at 27 weeks. It is starting to get big!! I feel great and can't believe how much energy the second trimester brings. One more week until the third trimester, let's see if my energy level stays the same. I feel the baby move all the time and she likes to stick her butt out of my side often. It is a very strange feeling!

25 week sonogram

We had a level two sonogram done at the hosptial. It was really awesome because their equipment is better than at the doctor's office and we could in much better detail. The doctor checked out all the babies organs and made sure everything was developing like it should be. She said that our baby was really boring because she was perfect. We got to see the four chamber of the heart, the main arteries, her stomach, kidneys and many other really cool body parts. She also double checked to make sure it is a girl and she said that it sure was =)

It's a Girl!!!!

On Tuesday, September 2 we had our 20 week sonogram. The sonographer spent a lot of time looking at all the different body parts, taking measurements, and looking at organs. We could see a profile, legs, feet, hands, and spine. She pointed out the heart which you could see just beating away, really fast. She also pointed out her stomach and the umbilical cord. When we got to see the baby face the eyes were moving around. It was a little creepy but neat at the same time. She also told us that the baby weighs about 13 oz.

At the very end she asked if we wanted to know the sex. We both shouted, "Yes!!" We were so anxious to find out and she was taking an extremely long time to get to the good part. She asked what we thought it was and we told her that we both thought it was a boy. Then we told her how all of our siblings have had girls first so that if ours is a boy we would be the first ones to break the pattern. As I was talking she is typing "girl parts" with an arrow on the screen. We were shocked but super excited!!

After the sonogram we met with Dr. Vu. She is really sweet like Dr. Hsu but more talkative so I don't think I will have any problems getting along with her ;) She answered all of our questions and looked at the sonogram pictures to make the final determination that it is definitely a girl.

My belly has gotten bigger in the last few weeks. There is no questioning if I am pregnant. I am also wearing only maternity pants but can still wear some regular shirts. Baby hump pics will be posted as soon as I download them off my camera.

16 week appointment

Today we went for our 16 week check up. It was our last visit with Dr. Hsu. Our next appointment will be with Dr. Vu, who will deliver our baby. We had a long wait in the waiting room but the appointment only took a few minutes. We got to hear the baby's heartbeat, which is always a breath taking moment. Dr. Hsu said the heartbeat was between 150-160 beats per minute, she said that was a very strong heartbeat. We set up our next ultrasound for September 2. We will get to find out the sex of our baby as this appointment and meet with our new doctor. Hopefully we will still run into Dr. Hsu at some of our appointments so she can see my belly grow and we will definitely bring our baby to meet her once he/she enters the world.

11 week sonogram

We had our 11 week sonogram on 6/30/2010. Patrick and I had so much fun watching the baby on the monitor. We thought it still looked like an alien but it finally had arms and legs. We could see the baby moving his/hers arms around and could even see the fingers. It was also neat to be able to see the eyes so clearly. The baby had a great heart beat and it was a out of body experience to be able to hear the heartbeat together for the first time. Our next sonogram will be at 18 weeks and we should be able to find out the sex at that sonogram. We are anxiously waiting!!

Sonograms are so much fun!

We had our first sonogram at 5 weeks. There is not much to look at but if you look closely you can see the tiny dot, that is the baby. We were excited to find out that everything looked normal and my blood work came back great!

Our next sonogram was at 8 weeks. The baby kind of looks like an alien but it has a head and body, small arms, and will soon become a fetus. Patrick unfortunately was late for this appointment and then didn't know where I was or how to find me. He missed the sonogram so I had to hear the heartbeat alone. It was an outrageous feeling to know that something inside me had it's own heartbeat.

We're having a baby!

On May 11, 2010 I found out I was pregnant. I devised a plan on how to tell Patrick the good news. I bought him Twizzlers and Sunny D and left them on the counter with a note. Of course he didn't get it. He didn't even eat any of the snacks. I had a feeling that my plan would backfire so I had a backup plan. Before we went to dinner that night I gave him a gift. He opened it and it was two positive pregnancy tests and a card. He was very excited to find out that he was going to be a dad! The next day he bought me beautiful flowers!!! I'm such a lucky girl!
