Meeting Great Grandparents

We took Bridgette to east Texas to meet her Great Grandparents on February 12th. She did great in the car ride and slept the whole way there and back. She loved being spoiled my Memaw and Big Daddy. They are such wonderful grandparents and she is a lucky girl to have them in her life!

1 Month Old

I can't believe the first month has come and gone. It went very quickly because Bridgette kept us very busy. Adjusting to having a newborn has been hard work but very rewarding. Patrick and I are adjusting pretty well and get as much sleep as possible. So far we have been blessed and she sleeps well at night. We did have a few long nights because B would grunt a lot when we would lay her in her bed. I had a hard time sleeping due to all the sounds she would make. I called the doctor because we had already discussed some signs of reflux. She asked me to eliminate dairy from my diet to see if it was a milk allergy. This has been tough but I am finally adjusting to my life without cheese, milk, and ranch dressing. When we went for our one month check up she gave us some medicine to help with the reflux because I told her that I didn't really think it was a milk allergy. So far the medicine seems to be making a difference but we still have moments when she is in pain.

Bridgette weighed 8 lbs 10 ounces and was 21 3/4" long at her one month check up. She is growing so fast and finally fits into her newborn clothes. Some milestones she has met are making eye contact, holding her head a little more steady, fixating on objects (she likes lights), and moving her arms and legs a lot. Her favorites are sleeping vertically on daddy's chest, sleeping on mommy's shoulder, her vibrating bouncy seat, being sang to, and just hanging out in someones arms. She does not like taking a bath or having her diaper changed.

Puma and Pepe

The cats have definitely been through an adjusting period. The first few days and nights were very stressful on them. Every time she cried they would hide. They were also so stressed out that they were both shedding a ton of hair. I felt really bad for them but I knew that the stress would be temporary and that they would eventually adjust.

Puma adjusted quicker that Pepe which I had predicted would happen. By the 3rd day Puma wanted to be where ever Bridgette was. He like to lay in the bed and sleep while she is eating. He also enjoys all of our new baby items. I think he might think they are for him and not the baby. His two favorite are the pack n' play that she sleeps in and her ocean play mat.

Pepe took about two weeks to adjust. He wouldn't have anything to do with me and would only cuddle with Patrick at night. He has started sleeping in the shoebox in the closet again. In the evenings he will sit on my lap on the couch if Patrick is holding the baby. He will also occasionally snuggle on my side of the bed again. A miracle happened the other day and he came and cuddled with me on the couch while I was holding Bridgette. It was a Kodak moment!!

Winter Snow Storms

Bridgette brought a great winter with her when she decided to come into our lives. We have now had 3 different storms that brought bad ice and a lot of snow. It has kept us very cooped up in our house but we wouldn't have gone anywhere even without the snow and ice. Bridgette has been enjoying her days wearing fleece PJs and mommy went and bought her a fleece swaddle so that she would be nice and toasty. She loves it!!

It is crazy how fast baby B is growing. At her two week check up she weighed 7lbs 4 oz and was 20 3/4 inches long. She was 25% for weight and 75% for length. Do you think she will be tall like daddy?? Her newborn clothes are finally fitting her and will probably outgrow them in a week or two. This week she is 3 weeks old. She has started to spit up a little and grunts and coughs a lot while eating and after eating. The doctor said that I have to eliminate dairy from my diet for 2 weeks so that we can see if baby B is allergic to milk protein. This is going to be really hard for me to do but I'm going to give it a shot.
